HARD WOOD CHARCOAl

Also known as “lump charcoal,” this is what you get when wood is burned down to an impurity-free coal. No binders, no fillers – just pure, simple, high-quality charcoal.

Charcoal from Camel thorn and Mopanie has got the most endurance and give heat for longer periods of time. Diehard Braai masters love this stuff, both because of its simplicity and because it has a host of practical advantages. It lights more quickly, so you can get your food on the grill faster. It burns hotter, so you can get a deeper sear on your steak. It produces less ash, so you don’t have as much to clean from the bottom of your grill.

It stays good value for money weather it is sieved or un sieved charcoal pieces. It burns hotter than briquetts and light more quickly. It is a “clean” and natural product.

briquettes

In their simplest form, these are just hardwood coal dust that’s compressed into a briquette, forming a pillow shape. The shape of the briquettes means you need fewer coals to achieve great results. Usually mixed with limestone for coloring, sawdust as a filler, borax as a release agent, starch to help bind everything together. They’re cheap, ubiquitous, and reliable.

Briquettes are highly flammable and light up quickly. You’ve got to be patient and allow the coals to burn off all of their quick-lighting material. They are cost effective and burns slow and consistently
